“…something told me that I needed to go to Oakland. I didn’t know what it was exactly, but I just sensed that there was something that I needed to hear from Billie Joe.”

Billie Joe is one of the highlights in the new book by the famous tattoo artist Kat Von D, named “Go Big or Go Home”, released on 16th April. She talks about how was her first meeting with Billie Joe and that this was the first time she tattooed outside of her studio (High Voltage in L.A.) since the opening.

Kat says Billie Joe promised himself that by the time he turned 40, he would fill the empty spaces on his right arm with tattoos he had been thinking about for a long time, and this was the more pressing issue for her.

She also writes that they talked about music, bands that they grew up listening to, about their fans, family, friends, so much thinking, “too much!” exalts Kat.

She talks about Billie Joe didn’t show any signs of pain during the session, even with the tattoo being done in a sensitive area.

“I finally get the courage to record the album I’m writing, I’ll be able to thank him for the support I needed to express myself through writing and performing music.”

Other band members have also been featured in other books by the tattoo artist. Tré Cool in “The Tattoo Chronicles”

e Jason Freese in “High Voltage Tattoo”.
